3D printed figurines with their chicken its 3D printin' good along with finger lickin good!!

Some selected KFC restaurants in India are giving personalized 3D figurines to their customers. The customers would get a small 3D printed miniature of themselves, when they buy the KFC I-Box, which is a 5 in 1 chicken meal. The KFC restaurants that are offering the 3D printed miniatures have set up Twindom full-body 3D scanning booths where customers are getting themselves digitalized.
KFC’s Marketing campaign
We all remember the time when we were kids and got super excited about what toys we might be get at McDonald’s with our Happy Meals. This is just a new marketing campaign from KFC, which is using the latest 3D printing technology to gain its customers attention. Just like KFC’s boneless chicken, the 3D printed figurines will be boneless as well.
The campaign by KFC was launched few months back across some selected Indian outlets, which are equipped with 3D scanning booths for getting the I-Box customers digitized and 3D print themselves. Once they have got themselves scanned, they can pick up the food for their I-Box that includes fries, chicken, soda and tiny 3D printed miniatures. Pretty much seems like a good deal.
The CMO of KFC India Lluis Ruiz Ribot stated that “Collectible toys are too old school and so are seflies”. “The KFC’s latest I-Box takes things to a next level that is a more personalized and unique smart toy.

Quick to assemble 3D scanning machines
This unique marketing campaign was launched with the help of Little Me, a Mumbai based 3D printed figurine company brought some Twindom’s Twinstant Mobile full body 3D scanners to the KFC outlets, which are participating. The cost of these 3D scanners is $23K and they take 20 minutes for assembling and 5-10 minutes for generating 3D previews.
Impressively, it’s not only KFC that is trying to get some attention with the 3D printed selfies. But recently Landmark Bank in Texas recently launched a same campaign that quotes “Become a Landmark” for gaining the attention of new customers for opening an account. In return the customers would get a 3D printed figurine of themselves. The slogan of the Landmark’s Bank reads “Don’t be a number, be a Landmark”, the whole idea behind this scene is that the customer will be getting a personalized, long term thing like a landmark.
This idea of using 3D printing for offering a personalized touch to customers is pretty exciting and we think that more brands will take advantage of this for differentiating themselves from others and for creating a unique identity that will attract more customers.
